Assisting Community Residents Acheive their Goals

SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY SERVICES provides programs and activities designed to "assist community residents in achieving their goals."

HOMELESS PREVENTION provides for residents' needs by assessing challenges and working toward achieving a sense of dignity through self-reliance and self sufficiency.

helps people meet their basic needs. Resources are available for a variety of purposes including food, clothing, rental, and utility assistance. Funds for some are available throughout the year; other needs are seasonal.

INFORMATION AND REFERRAL provides assistance when it is not directly available from Southeast Community Services. Residents are given information and/or referrals to connect them with other service providers including agencies that provide food, employment, housing, health care, childcare, education, clothing, or counseling. To insure that residents are served fairly, counselors may contact other service providers.

EMPLOYMENT REFERRALS and extensive personal support are available to the unemployed or underemployed to help them become more self-sufficient at no cost to them.



enables people who are 60 years of age or older to participate in a variety of social, recreational, and educational activities. A nutritious hot meal is served weekdays. Transportation to our facility is available within our service area. Contributions are accepted based on ability to pay.

include cards, euchure, pool tables, bingo, dancing, birthday parties, grocery shopping, dining out, shopping, a Bible study, out of town trips, and other special events.

includes exercise, blood pressure checks, weight checks, and speakers who promote health awareness. SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) provides seniors with information about Medicare, Medicaid, long-term care, and billing statements.



are provided by counselors who work with unemployed and underemployed Marion County residents. Employment counselors work with a job developer to make referrals to local employers. Counselors are also available to provide support to ensure job retention. There is no cost to the individual for this service.

is an employment program serving Marion County youth who are 15 to 25 years of age. Y.A.E.P. helps individuals both in and out of school set and meet career and educational goals through pre-employment training and counseling.Y.A.E.P. promotes continuing education. Counselors make referrals to adult education classes, help interested residents with GED testing, organize college and career opportunity visits, provide information on financial aid, and connect individuals with vocational training programs.



PRE-EMPLOYMENT TRAINING includes job-searching techniques; filling out job applications, writing resumes, and interviewing skills. SECS has a 20 station computer center that is open for neighborhood residents from 8 AM - 5 pm weekdays. An instructor is always on-hand for assistance.
