Neighbors Helping Neighbors
It's a simple, old-fashioned idea that endures because we
know it makes
a community strong. While we may be reluctant to ask strangers for aid, we can
ask our neighbors because we know we'd do the same thing for them.
Neighbors offer a helping hand, giving support, encouragement, and preserving
our dignity when we are most vulnerable. Neighbors helping neighbors is what
Southeast Community Services is all about.
When was the last time a neighbor helped you? Maybe you borrowed a ladder
to fix a loose shutter. Or maybe your neighbor with the snow blade shoveled
your driveway after that big snowstorm. Neighbors can help each other in lots of
ways-some big, some small. And different neighbors need different kinds of help.
The residents of southeast Indianapolis are your neighbors too. Though you may
not live across the street from them, they are important to Indianapolis'
prosperity.
By contributing to SECS, you are reaching out as a good neighbor to help improve
the dignity and quality of life of thousands of southeast Indianapolis
residents.
The educational and employment opportunities that SECS provides aren't handouts;
they're helping hands for low-income individuals who are committed to increasing
their self-sufficiency and improving their families' lives.
By partnering with SECS, you have the opportunity to be a good neighbor to the
people of southeast Indianapolis. And we can all use a few more good neighbors.
